Do you suffer from stomach pain, diarrhoea, and bloating after eating? These problems may be caused by intolerance or sensitivity to food or a certain substance.

The Food and Pet Sensitivity Test determines if you are sensitive to many common food items. The list includes lactose, eggs, peanuts, gluten, yeast, soy, fish, shellfish, corn, and more.

Food sensitivity happens when your body reacts to food digested. Unlike allergies, the symptoms of food sensitivity or intolerance do not happen immediately.

The service includes a Pet Dander Test, which analyses your sensitivity to pet dander (fur, hair, or feathers) using your genetic markers.

It also tests for Histamine and will study your genetic markers to confirm if you have the ability to break down excess histamine, a compound common in fermented foods like wine.

The DNA testing service analyses 30 genetic markers (SNPs) to determine your genetic predisposition to the specific food and substances tested for. Food items covered by the test are categorised into the following:

  • Gluten
  • Lactose
  • Cow Milk Protein
  • Egg
  • Peanut
  • Histamine
  • Pet Dander
  • Other Foods: Tree nuts, soy, soybean, corn, yeast, fish, shrimp, apples

The Results of the Test

The results of the Food and Pet Sensitivity Test include a comprehensive report, which identifies the allergens that you are sensitive to. You will also receive a guide with dietary suggestions and recommended food substitutions and supplements.

An inconclusive result means that the laboratory cannot determine whether you have a sensitivity or not. This happens because the laboratory could not detect the necessary alleles or genes.

Results will be available 6 weeks after our laboratory confirms receipt of your samples.
